Episode 4: Hamburg Secession Trailer
Hamburg, 1919. A city broken by war, strangled to starvation by blockades, gutted by hyperinflation. Sixteen million dead from the war, over twenty million from the Spanish Flu. The old order collapsed.
But in the ruins, something extraordinary emerged.
The Hamburg Secession—the city's first avant-garde movement—formed out of the ashes. And at its center: three Jewish women who defied every barrier designed to stop them: Alma del Banco, Gretchen Wohlwill, and Anita Rée.
